Out of the Ed

Eddward “Double-D” had a knot in his gut. He had a dark secret that he felt he could never tell anyone, even to his two best friends. The thin boy felt immensely guilty that he never told Ed or Eddy, and so one weekend he decided to muster all the courage he could gather, lay it all out, and see where it went from there.

The Eds had gathered at Eddy's for an evening of Edd doing homework while Ed and Eddy relaxed. Double-D looked up from his algebra assignment to see that Eddy was going through one of his brother's old “Jiggy Jugs Monthly Magazine” while Ed was reading an issue of “Were-Bears Vs Lesbian Vampires”. While the timid boy questioned their taste in literature, he felt he shouldn't be judgmental given what he was about to announce.

Gentlemen?” he asked in a serious tone. His two friends didn't look up from their reading material. Edd cleared his throat and tried again, “Gentlemen?”

Eddy, the shortest of the trio, groaned and looked up from his magazine, “What do you want Double-D? I'm in the middle of this great article...”

Oh sure you were.” the capped boy thought. “Well...um...you see...”

Sometime today, sockhead?”

I have something I need to confess... to the two of you.”

Two?” asked the taller Ed, he put down his comic book.

The impish boy smirked, “Aside from what's under your hat, your crush on Nazz, and your footie pajamas, what else do ya need to confess that we already know?”

Okay Eddward, deep breath, you can do this, it's now or never.”

Oh, I know! Double-D really is an alien spy sent to recruit us for space adventures!” Ed suggested, resulting in Eddy grabbing his friend's comic and whopping him on the head with it.

No...the truth is...I'm bisexual.” the timid boy announced.

There was a bit of silence in the room for a second.

Oh no, why did I say that? Why did I tell them? Now they're going to-”

What, is that all?” asked Eddy, breaking the silence.

Edd nodded.

After a shrug, the short leader returned to his magazine, “Alright then.”

Disbelief spread across the sockhatted boy's face, “You...you're okay with it?”

Why wouldn't I be?”

The thin boy looked down, “Well...I figured you two would think different of me if-”

Eddy looked up from the magazine again, “Hey, you're still a nagging know-it-all, right?” he asked.

I am NOT nagging!” denied the nagging boy.

Like I said, you're still Double-D. You're still our buddy, right?”

Um...well yes.” he agreed.

Then nothing's changed.” Eddy went back to the magazine.

Ed hugged his friend, “Yeah! We still love ya Double-D!”

The pale boy groaned, “Ed, do you even understand what I mean when I say that I'm bisexual?”

His tall friend gave him a smile, “Sure I do! You mean you like girls and guys!”

That's...putting it bluntly, yes.” he said while a bit surprised, “I truly didn't expect you knew of that.”

Of course I do! I came out of the pansexual closet a few months ago, remember?”

Another shocking revelation, Edd did not know what to think.

What closet?” asked Eddy as he looked up from his magazine again.

Ed shrugged, “Pansexual, genderblind. It doesn't really matter to me, I like who I like.” a confused look on his face, “Nobody noticed?”

The frail boy recovered from his shock, “Well...er...I guess nobody ever expected something like that from you Ed.”

The shorter boy laughed, “More like nobody cares because you're fugly.”

In response, Ed threw a chair at Eddy. Double-D couldn't help but giggle at his friends squabbling like always, and was relieved to know that nothing had changed between them.

THE END

Something quick I wrote a week ago.  I don't think many will like it because there isn't any forced drama or crack pairings.

I like this idea. The idea that "coming out" doesn't need to be overly public or a big deal and that sexuality can be discussed without romance coming into the picture. Not that I'm not a sucker for romance but the point stands.
